Wildfire & Recreation
On November 26th, 2025, the Climate Caucus hosted POLIS’ Kevin Kriese at a Community Call on wildfire and recreation.
Each Community Call features a presentation focused on practical insights and replicable examples that can be applied broadly by local governments, and highlights lessons learned or strategies that other municipalities can adapt for their communities.
With a focus on wildfires, Kevin’s presentation introduced how local recreation infrastructure can adapt to climate change. He described the risks posed by wildfire to recreation resources and best practices for reducing those risks and increasing resilience.
The online session was attended by approximately 100 locally elected officials and municipal staff involved in climate action in towns that host significant outdoor recreation activities, or want to grow into their potential to do so.
